Dr Seitler earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Florida Institute for Technology, in 1981. He is the former Chair of the NJI Board of Trustees and Training Board Before taking on that role, he served as the Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Studies program for NJI. In addition, he is a Supervising Training Analyst and member of the NJI faculty. From 1985 to 2013, he was the co-Director of Counseling and Psychotherapy Services-R, with offices in Ridgewood and Oakland, NJ. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals including Ethical Human Psychology and Psychiatry: the International Journal for Controversial Discussions. He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal for the Advancement of Scientific Psychoanalytic Empirical Studies (JASPER). In 2019, after being in publication for less than four years, JASPER won the Gradiva Award. He is a Faculty member of the Gordon Derner Postdoctoral program at Adelphi University. Dr. Seitler has presented and published over 100 scientific papers and chapters on ADHD, apnea, autism, diagnostic labels, ethnic humor, forced hospitalization, myopia, neuroscience, paranoia, psychosis, soma-psyche, and so on. His other interests are diverse and include studies in Plant Nutrition, in which he received a Certificate in 2013 from Cornell University. In the Fall of 2023, he will be the Chair of the International Society for Psycho-Social Approaches to Psychosis (ISPS-US) conference at the University of Delaware.
