COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course serves as an introductory survey of fundamental psychoanalytic concepts, which will include, but is not limited to, an emphasis on and appreciation of anxiety; the definitions and importance of the structural theory; the unconscious; transference; countertransference; and resistance.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
To gain an introductory level of understanding of the psychoanalytic terms and concepts that will be discussed and studied. An important emphasis will be placed on the unconscious, starting with the principal of psychic determinism, and including an in-depth look at the structural theory.
By the completion of this course the students will be able to:

COSTS:
This course costs $350.00 and there is a $115.00 Fall Semester Registration Free which includes a one-year subscription to Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing PEP and a one-year membership to the Psychoanalytic Candidates Organization (PACO).
Refund policy: After the 4th class session, there is no refund. Monies paid for classes when candidates withdraw from the program after the 4th class, will be applied as a credit, if the candidate returns to NJI. If a candidate withdraws before the 4th class, 1/2 tuition will be refunded. (This excludes the registration fee of $115).
