Understanding and Approaching Therapeutic Impasses

This workshop will introduce pluralistic approaches in understanding therapeutic impasses and character defenses.

Learning Objectives:

1. To examine character resistances from classical as well contemporary perspectives.
2. To identify the clinical appearance of resistance.
3. To recognize analytic approaches and interventions in working with clinical impasses.

Workshop Leader:

Daphne Lin Chang is a licensed professional counselor and certified psychoanalyst. She is a faculty member at NJI and the Institute of Counseling and Psychoanalytic Studies.
